14 Nights / 15 Days (Round Trek)
Day 1: Arrival at Airport and Hotel Transfer
You will be received by our representative at paro international air port and will be escorted to hotel for the arrival refreshment. Sightseeing in paro Dzong and Paro Ta-Dzong. After the lunch visit Drugyal Dzong and Kichu monstery. Night halt at hotel in Paro.
Day 2: Hike to Paro Taktshang for Acclimatization
Early hike to Tiger’s nest will refrain one from the extreme day temperature and windy afternoon. Right after the break fast proceed toward the four wheel drive end point from where the hike commences. It is three hour hike and an average hiker can effort to do make a round trip hike. Evening leisure time in the paro town and night halt at hotel in Paro.
Day 3: Trek Commences
Drive to Drugyal Dzong 15 km away from the main Paro town. From the endpoint the trek commences and today you have to walk along the stream and the trail is bit gradual.
The camp site is located at an altitude of 2500 meter above the sea levels.

Day 4: Shana to Soithangkha
The trail again follows Pa-chu (Paro River) and through the pine, oak and spruce forests. Hot lunch will be served after crossing the bridge towards the left side of the river. After lunch follow the river, climbing up through rhododendron forests and finally crossing the bridge again, and reaching camp at an altitude of 3,750 meters. Hike from 09:00 HRS to 10:00 HRS.

Day 5: Soithangkha to Jangothang
The path ascends for a while, till you reach the army camp. Then follow the river above the tree line enjoying the stunning view of the surrounding peaks. Hot lunch will be served inside yak herder’s camp. A short walk in the valley reaches you to the camp at Jangothang at an altitude of 4,040 meters. The view of Mt. Jhomolhari and Jichu Drakey is superb. Overnight at camp. Walking time 5 hours.
Day 6: Jangothang halt for the day
The day remains fully utilized for your interest to fish in the stream. You can also take a short hike till Tshopchu.
Day 7: Jagothang to Lingshi
The trail follows the stream for half an hour and crosses the bridge to the right side. Start the climb up to the first ridge with a breathtaking view of Jhomolhari, Jichu Drakey and Tsrim Ghang. Then walk towards the valley, almost flat for a while, until the climb to the Nyele La pass at an altitude of 4,700 meters. After the pass it’s a gradual descent to the Lingshi camp, enjoying the panoramic view of the peaks and Lingshi dzong. Camp altitude is 4000 meters. Hiking duration stretches from seven to eight hours on average.
Day 8: Lingshi Halt for the day
On this halt you will be experiencing an excursion to Tshoka Lake. If you are lucky you will see a lot of Blue sheep and at times Musk deer also. You will be at an altitude of 4500m and would have already covered a distance of 15 Km.
Day 9: Lingshi to Shodu
The path follows the stream up towards the valley opposite the dzong, gradually ascending through the valley for 4 hours, until the stiff climb to the Nyelela pass (4800 meters), the highest on this trip. After the pass it is a long and gradual descent to the Sodu camp, at an altitude of 3,750 meters. Hiking duration: approximately 6 -7 hours.
Day 10: Shodu to Barshong
This is the place where one comes back to the tree line. The path follows the Wang Chu (Thimphu river), descending through rhododendron, juniper and other alpine forest. The view of the cliff facing rocks and waterfalls are stunning. At the riverside you will be served hot lunch. After lunch the trail gradually ascends to the ruins of Barshong Dzong, reaching the camp at the altitude 3600 meters. Hiking durations: approximately 6-7 hours.
Day 11: Barshong to Domlam Kencho
The road descends through alpine forest and we once again join Wang Chu for a while. Rest for lunch then climb up to Dolamkencho camp at the altitude of 3600 meters. Walking time: 5 - 6 hours.
Day 12: Domlam Kencho - Dodena - Thimphu
The path descends through bamboo forest all the way to Dolamkencho, finally joining Wang Chu again. Arrive at Dodena where you will be picked up by the bus to Thimphu (15km). Night halt at Hotel Dragon Roots.
Day 13: Thimphu Sightseeing
With late break fast in the hotel, proceed to folk heritage museum, painting school, national library and sangay handicraft shops. After the lunch visit Changangkha Lhakhang, Motithang mini zoo and sangaygang view point. After the office hour in the evening, visit the main shrine in the courtyard of Thimphu Tashichhoe Dzong. Night halt at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 14: Thimphu - Paro
In the morning spend some time in Thimphu town doing shopping in handicraft shops. After the lunch drive back to Paro for night halt.
Day 15: Exit
Next morning drive to Paro Airport. Our representative will bid bon voyage after completing the air port formalities.
